B16A TINKING NOISE AT 2K RPM
How's it going everyone?
Every time i rev up to around 2k rpm, i get this tinking noise, and it's pretty loud.
But right as soon as you pass 2k rpm, it quits. Would this be rocker arms?
Thanks alot for your help

Mine was doing the same thing! If you had me guess, I think you may need to do a valve adjustment. That's what I was going to do to see if it was going to fix the problem, but my engine broke before I could lol
Hm, a tinking? Usually valves tick. A tink sounds like it has more weight, like piston slap, but piston slap is more of a knock, like rod knock. I'd have to say it's your valvetrain. My B16 slightly ticks around 2k rpm too, I've adjusted the valves twice. They may need to be a hair tighter to remove the ticking, I mean tinking.

As others have mention check your valves. But if your valves are nice and tight I would check your LMA's (Lost Motion Assembly). Most likely they are stuck or gone bad. The way you can tell if, they are bad is to push on them. If they move back they are still good but, if they don't move back up and stay in the down position they are bad. There are 8 LMA's on a B16A motor. And you can get new ones online for about $22.10 each. These LMA's are known to go bad on B16A's motors.

So, i took my car in, and got my valves adjusted.. didn't really change much.
The shop told me it was the lma's.. and they also told me 600$$$$ for the work
So i followed that, with a no. lol, im just not gonna worry about it much
Thanks everyone for your help though.

Eww, I hope not. On my D-series there was a sweet spot to get the valves quiet, if 0.001" looser, they would tick. But I still can't get my B-series valves to shut up, I'm used to it now though. They're really hot even that loud, just louder than my D-series was.
Do you have tools? Learn how to replace the LMAs yourself and save money. Plus it's rewarding when you're done.

Here is a good write up on changing out your LMA's. Good luck.
