Default Normal valvetrain noise

like the topic says, when i am at a stop or after the car warms up it sounds great. while i am driving it almost sounds like the normal valve ticking noise. i have had 2 valve adjustments one after i got my cams put in and the other after i had it retuned. Is this normal? friends say its a honda and suppose to make noise. car runs greats, no power loss, just curious if there would be anymore follow up. thanks

might be the lost motion assemblies, but this is very common in hondas because of the flat tap-it design of the rocker arms and cams.

the lost motion assemblies are a little plunger on a spring that holds tension against the thrid rockerarm while the engine is out of vtec. so that the vtec rocker arm doesnt slam around. to check it just take off the valve cover and press on the the middle rocker arm between the valves on each cylinder see if it stickes in the down position at all.

okay and if it sticks then what? is it going to damage anything? do i need to worry about it? and also is there a procedure of taking off the valve cover, like if its hot or do it when its cold? also which rocker arm exactly? thanks for everything

if it sticks then its your lma's that are makeing the noise probally. ive run mine like that for the last year, there isnt any damage that i can see. there isnt really a proceedure for taking the valve cover off. the middle rocker arm in each set of 3, when you get the cover off you will see what im talking about. as far as fixing it you have to disassemble the rocker assembly. its pretty easy if you are mechanical, and want to try. but go get a helms manual before you attempt anything.
