registration after a 5spd conversion
I'm not sure which category this question would go in, moderators, please move it if needed
but here it is.
I'm reconsidering a 5spd conversion on my 97 accord (w/ F22B2).
I live in Texas and as you know, every car has to be registered and inspected once a year.
My question is will have to do something "special" after a transmission change so my car is street legal? I was imagining, inspection guys would check my car's VIN, which will say my car is an automatic, and my car has a manual transmission in it and say there's problem?
Maybe I didn't look for enough, but I couldn't find an answer.
Any input related to my question will be great
Thanks

i'm not real familiar with texas law... but i would think as long as you had some sort of proof of purchase to show the transmission isn't stolen they would leave it alone.
then again there's the whole swaping cars routine... it takes more money up front, but in the end you may make a small profit... find a similar car to yours in manual, buy it, then sell your auto (of course carrying over any upgrades like wheels, sterio, exhuast.. ect.) sounds a little crazy, but you may find it to be the only option if you aren't able to pass inspection.

It's texas, you can legally kill somebody if they break into your home. i think a manual transmission is gonna be ok.
Seriously though the best answer is going to come from a guy at the inspection station. I'd just go take 30 mins out of my day and visit them and talk to them. You should get the straight deal then
