went to start my car after about 5 days and it doesnt start.
car power turns on .. windows roll up and down etc .. when you try to start it the cars lights on the cluster dim a little and nothing happends ... no cranking sound or anything

i tryed jumping the car
tryed checking the fuses
tryed changing the main starter cable
changed the starter
tapped on the starter with a hammer
all the connections on the start are good and solid
injectors are plugged and not cracked anywhere

any ideas would be great

oh and its a LS vtec setup in a 97 EK hatch .. motor ran strong and was tunned properly by a tuner .. ecu has no issues with it

 

Did you check the distributor? Spark plugs? Are you getting any spark?

Do you have gas? Stupid question but that might be the reason.

 

is the starter new?
ignition switch or ground problems

 

I had a similar problem the other day after trying to start a fresh gsr swap into my ek. Turned out to be a problem with the starter-kill that was installed in the car, a quick soldering job did the trick.

Does your car have any type of starter-kill mechanism?

dist was replaced .. start with replaced with a working starter
wires and cap etc all replaced with the dist.

yes i have gas

and i have no kill switch or anything that will prevent it from starting .. iam stumped .. gonna try the main relay and see if i can get another one of those from a friend or something .. iam lost

 

This might sound dumb but did you try to jump it using a bad battery? The reason I ask is because I've tried to jump cars with a drained jump box and if you don't check it out you may overlook a basic battery problem.
If the dash lights dim with the key on but nothing cranks you may have a dead battery. Do you hear the starter solenoid clicking?

 

check the transmission ground.

 

If the car sat for five days, you may excessive parasitic draw draining your battery

 

Yeah could be the battery.try push starting it,if it works then I'd say it's the battery.

 

i have almost the same problem, but when i step on the break while stepping on clutch. it starts. try doing that

 

If it does start by push starting then it could also be the clutch pedal switch.reach up there behind the clutch pedal and push the switch with ur finger.a year ago I found out there was a hole in my clutch pedal where the switch hits it LOL.wierd **** I have a pic of it too.
