Not sure if this goes here. Mexican Plates.
No it will be running with Mexican plates though like being payed tags and stuff from Mexico. I'm not gonna register it here.
well u jus answered your own question then if u plan on not registering it......c'mon dude there mexican plates not like it has plates from a different state. completely different bro. but do wat u want..... live and learn.
If it's not registered in a state where you have to smog, you don't have to worry.
I'm from Michigan, they don't give a damn what we do to cars here. If i brought my car to California and kept it registered in Michigan, they cant touch me.

Hmm...That's Interesting see I'm only asking cause my cousin in Mexico has a DC and he's selling it for dirt cheap and he's throwing in his GSR engine if I buy it so I'm asking if I'll get **** for having it here in Cali but with Mexican plates.

if you get pulled over and they see that your license is in cali and thats where you live but the car is not registered there they can f**k ya for evading taxes... my buddy lives in northern ky and his car is registered in ohio and they got him for that petty crap
I'd say your best bet would be to go to a local DMV or police station and ask them...just say IF you did this what would happen, don't tell them you're about to or anything, just that you're considering it.
For this to work, you're going to need to show proof of residence, like a lease or a power bill with your name on it in that state/country. IF the do catch onto it, you will most likely be charged with tax invasion like Bada9 said and it's deffinately not worth it. My uncle did this with his cars and boat and registered them with an address that he had bare land in Tennessee and was fined for it.
another state is one thing. another country is asking for cop trouble if you have a us address and us citizenship. you could register in oregon and pull off a modded jdm car pretty easy. then, all you risk is a fine. doing mexican plates is far more risky with no added benefit
The added benefit is not having to smog. If the car is your daily driver than you will have big problems with it. You live a couple hours away from the border and you will attract a lot of attention. If it wasn't your DD you could probably get away with taking it out for a drive once in a while. And to register a car in Mexico you need to be a Mexican citizen with a residential address and a Mexican driver's license.
