Default anti sieze for lugnuts?

after snapping a stud, i've been told it's best to put anti sieze on the studs to prevent breakage. what anti sieze can be exposed to the heat stress of track racing without breaking down? not an anti sieze, but would motor oil work?

I just use WD-40 before I torque the lugs down. Having WD-40 allows for more accurate torque spec to be observed. And, it has never seized on me this way... although my "racing" only consists of AutoX and backroads (no daily driving).

i'm not sure, but i wouldn't think wd-40 remains viable in temps of 450+. anybody know?

I use anti sieze on the studs on all my cars. after owning some BMWs whose wheels were "welded" to the hubs, I use anti sieze to prevent this from happening again. never have had a problem since.

This stuff is messy, so use just enough to get a light coat on the threads of the studs. If you change your wheels often it will be like butta after a few times.

any anti sieze should be able to take the temps involved. I just use some stuff I got from the local parts store. HTH

I use a copper anti-seize and a torque wrench.

Hasn't let me down yet.

I've also been using Kyokugen lug nuts with no problems.

Yes, you can get Anti-Seize anywere... I think the stuff I have is made by Permatex... Not sure.

I can't say that I've ever looked for special anti-seize. I just buy the generic stuff, and have never had a problem. I use it on the threads of the catalytic converter bolts, and I've never had a problem getting those off after I've cleaned them and anti-seized them. Brakes won't get as hot as the cat will!

As much as I love using it, I hate using it cause it always gets all over the place...

Edit: And to get back on topic, I do not use anti-seize on my lug nuts... I'm not sure why, I might have to rethink my use here...

I bought some and used it before Summit Point this week, I had no problem loosening my lugs after the event.
