Default Axle Problem

I just did a motor swap in my hatch because the last one was getting up there in miles. I swapped in the same one (D16Z6) and now i can't get the driver side axle in. It gets stuck about 1/4 inch away from being seated against the seal and we just can't get it in.

Might there be something it's getting bound on? We've looked in the hole to see if there was something stuck in there, checked the splines in the tranny and on the axle and everything looks fine. We've taken the flywheel cover off to get that out of the way and replaced the axle seal.

i know when i do my dx axles,i have to get them into the tranny as far as possible (usually about 1/4 inch or so from being seated) then i CAREFULLY push the axle twards the tranny and hammer the end of the axle till it's seated... YOU DONT NEED TO SMASH ON IT, LIGHT TAPS WORK FINE!

Check the spinales near the end of the axle towards the boot. Make sure they are not damage. You can also try changing out the c-clip. Sometimes they expand way too much therefore the axle wont seat properly. good luck

well the c-clip does look rather large...but i've tried 2 brand new (not reman) axles...(i have lifetime warranty)...and they both do the same thing?

could it be the transmission?...splines looked good in there...had a flashlight pen and was checkin it out...it drove fine before i found out it was sitting out...but was pouring tranny fluid everywhere >< this is pissing me off

it can't be my tranny because it was absolutely fine before i let it sit for a few weeks before i could get to repairing it.

The same thing happened to me. New axle, new C clip, nothing in the way, even put trans. fluid on the splines. I ended up just having to use all my strength and just push as hard as I could while holding onto the inner joint housing. I was just about to give up when it went in. Maybe have some one hit the hub spline while you try to push it into the trans.
