whaaaaaaaa? what mods do you have to your motor? do you have the usual intake/header/exhaust?

if you're looking for more power you can try adding either a cam or going boosted...

yeah, i've owned an a6 for about 2 months.
i went from an LS w/gsr tranny to this little single cam
and it's just as fun as the ls..

so anyway, when i swapped the motor in my hatch,
i had a hollowed out cat, intake and OBD1 converted/p06 ecu.
with those stuff already done to the car, i've walked a auto 95 legend, many LS's and the most fun was the gsr with intake.

after some serious fun with that motor, i decided to go with the sohc zc camshaft swap, y8 intake manifold and the 99 y8 tubular header, butt tuned with my vafc.

i had that last set up for maybe two days TOPS. the damn cam caused either a rod knock or some serious valve clap. but yeah, that set up was FUN. had power throughout the rpms.

what up redef. I am in the same boat as you. i just acquired a hatch with a d16a6 in it. right now i have dc headers, aem cai, and magnaflow catback. i have been trying to just get a lil more power from it like you. what i have been suggested on other sites are the following......port polishing of the head, and manifold, bored throttle body (or throttle body from a b series), lightened flywheel, cam, pistons, msd ignition, fuel rail, and turbo.

i am not too sure what all those would do and how much money you are trying to spend. for me, my hatch is my daily driver so i was thinking of getting a cam for sure. i am between getting a sohc zc cam and a performance cam. I have heard that the zc is slightly better than the stock a6 cam, but i saw an exospeed stage 2 cam for 200 bucks that looks like it might be my winner. I am also looking into boring my throttle body or getting a b series TB. i am also thinking of the upgraded fuel rail and the ignition although i am still not too sure how these 2 will help in gains.

hopefully this helps on just some of the stuff that is available for the a6. i will prolly never end up replacing my pistons or getting everything ported and polished unless i need to.
anybody else with suggestions or clarifications??

I didnt feel any difference between my a6 and sohc zc cam. If I was to swap cams on the cheap I would look into delta cam's regrinds. Just tell them what you want as far as where you want your power range(down low, midrange, High rpm's) and they will custome grind it for you. 272 will idle like a v8 but rip all the way up to 8k

Also I would look into PB tuning for a 68mm taper bore throttle body, space plate, and a cleaned up/ported z6/a6 intake. Eveything about the y8 in my book is fail boat. Then rock a header and exhaust, get it tuned and call it a day.

I had the same experience with a couple of zc cams, Now for those who do MPFI swaps on their d15s... well thats a diff. story.

I'm with rat city rex. Nice cam, intake, exhaust and some tuning, otherwise if you want best bang for your buck put together a home made turbo set up.

i like boost. its not too expensive, and if you do it correctly, it could be a pretty quick daily. i dont have an a6, ive got a d15b vtec, ls tb, and an 88 crx si trans. gears arent too long, so its pretty quick
