Default Low HP after boost :(

I had my car tuned, and I only hit 208hp on 10lbs this doesn't make any sense to me. Compression is good I already checked that. The only problem I can think of is a boost leak. Any other suggestions? Could it be from such a low compression ratio?

Ok I don't think every detail of my build is necessary for the question but here it is anyways

Short Block - built by RLZ
B16A2 block from a '99 Civic Si, Darton sleeved by RLZ, bored to 84.5mm
Eagle H-beam rods -w- ARP studs
Stock B16 crank
Wiseco 8.5:1 pistons -w- rings, the new ones with the coated skirts
ACL Race Bearings
ARP main bearing cap studs (block and caps were align honed for these studs by RLZ)
new Honda oil pump

Cylinder Head
B16A2 head
RLZ Stage 2 ported
Ferrea valves
Ferrea springs
Ferrea guides
stock retainers
Stock B16A2 cams
Skunk2 cam gears

APEXi N1 cat back exhaust
Fidanza 7lbs Aluminum Flywheel
Unorthodox Under-drive Pulley Set Ultra SS Blue
ACT Heavy Duty Clutch Kit

Garrett T3/T4 60trim .63hotside
RC 1000cc Injectors
InlinePro Log Manifold
2.5"DP
Gutted Cat
38mm Tial WG
50mm Tial BOV
2.5" IC Piping
Garrett 500hp Intercooler

I know you probably just forgot to list it but what are you using for management? S300?

Also going from 2.5 inch exhaust with cat to full 3 inch without a cat would gain you some power.

Do you have any datalogging? Dyno sheets?

jdm header? eh?

i would get rid of the underdrive pulley. your exhaust is surely hurting power output.

lol old info before it was boosted. Was ITR. I keep a running list of mods, and forgot to remove that

Was using Neptune switching over to eCtune on retune.

3" exhaust already in my plans, but want to move up to 3"DP, Cat, and exhaust all at once.

I may be able to get the datalogs from my tuner but I don't have any right now.

Wow when I re-read ur post is saw 208, I thought it was 280! Anyway, 208 is low. Your 8.5 compression will lower your power a little but not that much. A couple of thoughts I have are first, why only 10psi? Next, who tuned this? Are they reliable? Some low power set ups ive seen are because the timing was not adjusted properly. Do you know what timing youre running?

No I don't know what timing I'm running. I know the cams haven't been adjusted at all. The reason for only 10lbs is because my tuner said he was worried when he was only getting those hp numbers at 10lbs of boost. To be honest I kind of feel like the tune was rushed, but he is a good guy and had helped me out allot in the past. He doesn't tune anymore (wife made him quit). My new tuner seems very very dedicated, and I'm retuning the first of next month so hopefully he gets everything dialed in like it needs to be. I do remember seeing my AFR curve printout and it was a mess. No leaning out but not smooth by any means.

That's good your tuner stopped when he noticed it was acting weird. You have too much money invested to risk anything. With timing and AFRs all over the place I wouldn't drive it until I get it re-tuned. Even with only 208hp you could blow up all kinds of stuff! Luckly its not leaning out, but be careful. Again I wouldn't drive it unless you have a wideband.

Unfortunately I have been driving it. He told me it should be fine. Good news is Its been boosted for about seven months, and it has been just fine as a DD. No real hiccups whatsoever. It behaves like a factory turbocharged car almost as far as being dependable no overheating, etc.. Just crappy mpg (like 23 if I play nice). I'm just sick of having so little power with so much money in the build.

why have you been waiting so long to get the problem corrected??

take the car somewhere else... Record the dyno session... Get the new shop to explain the problem on camera... get it fixed then go back to the original shop and tell them you want half your money back...

The original tuner was a independent tuner. He didn't charge me nearly what he should have since he couldn't figure it out. My new tuner is going to tune on the first of August, and his first priority is nailing down why it wouldn't put down the power it should have.

I don't have the dyno sheet. I'll try to get it from my tuner, and I'll post it if I do. It's still fun and got plenty of pep, but no where near what I want lol. My friend has a 415hp Teg and that thing feels like a rocket ship.

Even though you've been driving it for 7 months doesnt mean it won't blow up tomorrow. Do what everyone is saying and get it fixed asap. Going from 200 to 400 is going to make you crap your pants.

Here is my dyno - my block is only 81.5mm fyi

Only tuning, no parts. I don't know for sure what my tuner changed, Ill have to ask him. I think it was mostly timing but Im not sure. I love the added tourque though

thats a big jump at the start of the pull, maybe the turbo was already making boost at the start of the run?

That's a good point, I never paid that much attention to the start. Nothing in the set up was changed from pull to pull so maybe youre right. They both were 4th gear pulls so maybe he built boost in third on the second run?

Where are you located? If RLZ put the motor together, why not have Howard tune it also. Best bang for your buck if your located anywhere close to them.

I'm in the Burlington area. I think your on CH as well. I'm going to get J. Mills to tune it if you know him. I just really like the attention to detail he seems to have, and he is always available for questions. I like RLZ they are just always so swamped with work (which is a good thing) goes to show they know what they are doing. All my engine assembly will always be done there.
