Default sc61 vs s372 build

ok so i have a SC6176 that was on my my b16 eagle rod je piston motor but it cracked the #1 sleeve but it made 400 hp on a log manifold at 20 lbs. but i think i am gonna go with a ram horn on my new build. so now i'm going to go with a golden eagle ls sleeved block 83mm with the b16 head with new valves and skunk2 springs and retainers and am trying to figure out if i should sell the turbo and manifold and get the s362 and ramhorn b/c the 61 spooled slowly but i know it was on the b16 was the problem but i want to go for more power on pump gas only and be safe and what is the max seen on pump gas? it will be a weekend street or track car every once in a while. i have seen good things about the s362 and just tryin to figure out what is best and fastest spool for my app im lookin around 450-550 ish

that is a good question, but you should be maxing out the turbo.. if you want.. you will be maxing much more power than, with the b16.. i think you will be fine..

The Precision 6176 has a big turbine for that sized compressor, but the S362 has a slightly bigger turbine, so spool wont change a whole lot. You could run a 6262 which will spool quicker than the other two, or you could get a slower spooling S366 for even more power.

spool is irrelivent reallyt. just see what kind of power you want to make and get a properly sized turbo to match that.depends on gears and many other factors how that turbo will spool up. going from a crapass log to a ramhorn will give you several hundred rpm quicker spool anyhow. The sc61 is an old design wheel vs a borg s362 is more for lack of better words up to date design and will perform better than the current turbo your running BUT your current turbo can still pump out alot of ponies

you will get almost the same spool characteristics with a s362 as you would with a 35r but a little more top end. I would go with a 30r if your planning on staying below 550whp if you want any more go with the s362.

in this case what would you recommend for 500 and below on pump but if i wanted to tune it for race gas no more than 600 what will a s258 do? i have a a b16 tranny with a quaife as the far as gearing goes

500whp on pump will take at least something like the S362. The S258 wont pull it off unless you run E85 or meth.

yeah if your trying to do big numbers on pump gas you need low compression and a beefy turbo to pull it off. a 30r maxes around that power with race gas. nothign smaller than what your running now will make it happen. the s362 will do the job well but your current turbo will also get the job done with a good manifold

if your going sleeved block then 600 is a very easy number to obtain.

yes i will have a GE sleeved block and i am going to get a ramhorn made and use arias 9.4 pistons w/ a b16 head but i think im just gonna shoot for the 500 range on the street maybe tune it later for more power for track runs but just want something to beat on
