Default 93 ex running like crap

its getting plenty of fuel. we replaced the distributor, cap, rotor, plugs and wires to no avail. it idles really rough and when you tap the gas, it hesitates then drops to dangerously low rpms. if you're driving down the road and come to a stop it will stall. no idiot lights are on. i'm completely stumped on this one. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check to see if it's in time? Maybe your piston rings aren't making good compression

Remove the valve cover and upper timing belt cover. Put the front end on stands, remove the splash shield and the driver's front wheel. Put the engine in neutral. Use a breaker bar to turn the crank pulley counterclockwise until the cam pulley is precisely positioned at TDC1. Then check whether the crank pulley is also positioned precisely at TDC1 (pointer aligned with white TDC1 mark). If not, the timing belt skipped a tooth or two.
