are you sure you hydrolocked it? i mean, i drive in the rain on a regular basis with cold air, and i've never hydrolocked my car. and i don't even have a fender protector. lol. (got it that way). i'd take the head off, and see whats going on in there.

the only way you can truly find out is to start tearing it apart and assess the damage like jhammond said, unless you have a bore scope and can look in the cylinders to see if there is some serious damage first before you waste your time.

Tear it down, if it needs a rebuild, put a D16 in it until you have the money to deal with it. The cost of repairs can vary greatly with this type of damage, so it's hard to say at this point how much you'll need to spend to fix it.

1. take spark plugs out, crank motor and enjoy the water show
2. Leave plug out, and let dry for several hours.
3. dry off plugs or get new plugs
4. change oil and oil filter
5. replace everything, try again

My husband drove through a rain puddle and the same thing happened to my car. We did exactly what MiraiZ said, and the car was fine after that. Still runs great. By the way, the "water show" was kind of fun to watch.

I remember seeing "the water show" at the dealership I used to work at after it flooded here. 2 mechanics + 1 lowered Civic = shooting water and girlish giggling outside the shop LOL
