SANDING PRIMER QUESTION!
Hello guys and gals!!
Got a noob question, ive read the sticky at top of the paint thread, but still alil confused. I finished spraying my first coat of 2k urathane primer lastnight. should i wet sand it tonight? or spray another coat? i was thinking of wet sanding inbetween coats with 400 grit and sand the final coat with 600 grit?
Thanks,
Justin

That sounds good to me. I'm sanding my first coat with 320 wet, then I'm going to go over it again with another coat of 2k, then sand it with 600 and then seal it, then paint it.
ya thats what i did this weekend, seems to have worked good, but i broke thro to the etching primer on the edges of the panels, o well ill just have to reprime them and be real careful! lol
IMO, if you're wet sanding between coats, you're just wasting time. Spray 3-4 layers of 2k primer or how ever much you need to cover the area, then dry sand to smooth out any dry spots or runs. I normally use 180 grit. If you see any pin holes/solvent poppings, then spray another layer on which should fill in those holes. Then once again dry sand again, then wet sand. After you're done wet sanding, clean it up and it'll be ready to spray.
