Hello Guys,

I have a system, and im trying to figuire out why my battery gets low after listening to my music for a long period of time while driving. Everytime i start my car, i hear that the engine takes a while to start like its a dead batt. When i hear that the engine takes a while to start, i turn on the car and drive with my system turned off so the batt charges. Ive bought a new battery that has more amps (but i bought it a Autozone). My alt is still good ive checked it 13-14 volts. Is it possible to upgrade ALTERNATORs for my 04 CRV? or What could be the problem?

Once the engine is running the alt. supplies all the power needed, unless the system you have is more then 500W RMS and you listen to it cranked all the time.
I would have a proper load test done, it's not the alt. voltage you need to be worried about it is it's current output, [amperage]. 94

 

I can point you in the right direction if you give me some more information about your setup...


like, what make/model amp, at what load (ohms)?

what kind (and size) is your power wire?

what make/model is your battery?



answer those questions for me and I can tell you exactly whatcha need

Orion Cobalts - 600 watts for speakers , 800 watts for 2x 12'' subs pioneers

what kind (and size) is your power wire?
power 4 gauge

what make/model is your battery?
i bought the battery at AutoZone and it had more Amps or crank power

ehh... could be a number of things, your battery could be sulfated... causing it to be much weaker than it was when you bought it (speaking of, what is the resting voltage of the battery)

and as for the alt, it could also be weaker than it its original state while still putting out 14v


and if you feel that you need to upgrade alts, yes... they make aftermarket High Output alts for CRV's... if you have any intrest in a new alt or Batt feel free to shoot me a pm
