help diagnos my problem
my motor was rebuilt by acura in the spring. ever since then i have had problems with it missfiring. I changed the plugs and the problem went away and then returned a few weeks later. i finally tried a different ngk plug for my second set of plugs in 2 months and it ilimnated the problem. heres where it gets weird. after i think all is well i take it to the track.....all goes good at the track until on the way home...i blew a distributor fuse. Ever since i blew the fuse vtec had a complete differnt sound....and vtec felt completely powerless....i actually lost to a kia. i took my car into acura and they told be someone had been messing with the timming and that the timing was way off. all they did to suposedly fix it was adjust the timing. btw i NEVER TOUCHED THE TIMING. so i get my car back and i notice that the differnt sound is sitll there.. my car feels to have more power in vtec but still not as much as it did before. i race my friend in a gsr and only win buy a car length. I race my frien in a stock type R and notice he pulls away from me in every gear, before we were the same. I also notice a small missfire when i let off the gas and slow down. well thats it, any help would be great.
Might be fuel problem
What exact did they do to the motor?
head? block? pistons? crank?
And what exactly did you do to get it there?
And don't say nothing, because you and I know that would not be a true statement.

they replaced the block and pistons. i dont think it would be fuel because when they adjusted the timing it did help but didnt put it back to where it was...
just thought about this... but try reseting the ECU... They may have already done this at the dealership, but you never know.
Seem that you got hosed on the deal... you should try another acura dealership to see if they can find the problem.

I think so to Kanji.... But a second opinion doesn't hurt.
Take it back and have them make it right.
If your pinging, there is damage being done to your motor EVERY time you drive it.

yeah but now i gotta pay for everylittle thing they do because warranty just pased so if i could nail down the problem or at least the area then maybe i could save some cash and fix it my self. sure theres someone out there that knows what it is.
no no no... the problem was worked on before your warranty went out.. plus the problem was there after you had it worked on... there for they did not fix it right the first time!
I apologize for continuing to bring up the same point, but I'm just not sure about the details of your situation. Did the warranty just recently expire. If they covered the engine under warranty, then regardless of whether you car is still warrantied or not, they still have to cover the job they did initially.
To sum it up: If they did the initial rebuild under warranty, then shortly after your factory warranty expired, they are still responsible to fix whatever went wrong with the rebuild.
If I'm way off, I apologize.

This should be covered under the powertrain warrenty. That lasts 5 years or 100,000 km's.
By the time they re-adjusted your timing, I think damage was already done since you drove it for a few months before taking it back (plus a track day). Do a compression test and/or leak down test, that should answer a few questions.
