Default Sometimes i wonder about USDM ITR stock power.

Anyone ever thought about this? USDM ITR rated at 195 hp, 10.6:1 compression ration 4-2-1 exhaust mainfold configuration while the JDM ITR rated at 200ps(197Hp) 11.1:1 compression ratio and 4-1 header (2.5) collector yet the car is only 2 HP more then the USDM? I though higher compression, larger collector would at least give more then 2 flywhel HP.
And dont most USDM ITR dyno at 160ish while the JDM dyno at 165ish. Did Honda Over rated the USDM ITR or what.

Even with the bigger 2.5" collector Honda still left an exhaust with a 1.75" opening....

I think after a certain point it becomes very difficult to make more hp.

I've ridden in both USDM Type Rs and a Euro Type R - Euro Type Rs are more powerful and more comfortable....yummy seats

Honda overrated the Type R. Look at stock dyno numbers for the Celica GTS, they're right there with the Type R almost, but its rated 10 hp less. Its either that or the Type R has a lot of drive train loss.

2 hp diff, i see the jap spec 98+ to be at like 168 hp all the time opposed to the 160-165 of the US one, jap is like 210 hp if im not mistaken, at the fly of course...

One has a LSD, one doesn't. The LSD DOES rob some power you know. (imo anyways)

Euro spec ITRs are less powerful than USDM ones. They are lighter however, which might explain why there 0-60 and 1/4 miles times are almost identical to USDM ITRs. They also have the JDM final drive, which may lead one to think they had more power.

Im thought about this before, and between the final drive, higher compression, and better header, i am convinced that the JDM type-R has got to have more than the rated 200hp at the fly...i would love to get a chance to drive one but that will probably never happen so oh well

Nitpicking perhaps, but a final drive has no effect on flywheel or wheel horsepower.

Wow, many seems to agree with me.
One thing to notice is that the UKDM ITR is rated at 190BHP=190hp. Yet the motor has 11.1:1 compression. I do know that is rated at ony 7900 rpm.
Sometimes make me wonder why so many diffrent specs of ITR. Honda must have a reason for doing it.

It's all about the JDM final drive IMO.

Own B18C6 is the same has the JDM type-r engine, JDM final drive, ECU is the same, less the JDM 4-1 header. We do use 98 octane gas. Why should we be less powerful than the USDM ones ?
