Default 97 civic turbine speed sensor code

hey guys, my 97 civic threw a code. turbine speed sensor fault, and transmission computer control malfunction. just wondering if this could cause the transmission to slip in 1st gear and function normaly thereafter shifting in 2nd gear through 4th? i don't want to replace the sensor if the slipage is because the chutchpacks or gear is destroyed. what do you guys think?

ok the turbine speed sensor fault is the sensor that tells the ecu how fast the wheels are moving i belive so stick another sensor it there and the other is umm i might have to get back to you on that after work tommarow ill find out though

ok, well the issue is that the transmission slips in 1st gear after it warms up and i have to shift into 2nd to take off, then i have to shift to D4 to go through the rest of the gears. my speedometer works fine! would a bad turbine sensor cause the slippage? it was weird, this morning 1st gear was holding fine for a while then it started slipping weird again.
