Turbo GSR missfires and dies at idle
Last year I was having missfire issues, this ear same symtoms.
Symtoms
1)Once the system warms up and the engine is hot the car has choppy idle and sometimes dies when I push in the clutch. As times goes by the car's "sudden death" ration is going up, especialy when its 100 oC outside.
2)When boosting past 4 or 5k rpm, the car bogs and missfires, and in general runs like ****.
Last year my ignition coil died shortly after missfiring. I tested the coil and it was within specs, yet it was non op. I have a feeling that the distributor's ICM is done and is killing the coil with it. Before I throw $200 for a new distributor, was wondering if anyone else having same issues? BTW, the wires are fairly new, plugs look okey, cap is fine.
setup is greddy kit, 750cc, hondata s200, walbro FP, stock ingnition/wires.
I know some may look at the fuel due to large injectors, but Iam leaning more towards ignition because of how temperature affects performance. Just dont see how higher temp would cause car to run too rich, maybe lean if anything.
Just checked the spark plug gaps and I have #1 0.032 #2 0.035 #30.036 and #4 0.031
Ive read in (Honda/Acura Performance by Mike Kojima) that on turbo cars to not go below 0.022, which at that point a more powerfull ignition would be needed...
Update... so I set the gaps on all 4 plugs to 0.030... I ran the car and no missfire, pulled to 8k like when it came off the dyno.
