94 civic wheel growling
i have a 94 civic recently i changed the wheels out and noticed a growling sound coming from the right front wheel that gets worse at low speed left turns and subtle but constant growling at normal speed straight away any ideas would be great and thanks in advance
check to make sure all the wheels are torqued down....check tires for cupping/feathering on the tread. otherwise, ur wheel bearing could be bad, or the tires/wheels could be rubbing somewhere.
checked wheel torque , inspected tire wear and for rubbing , and inspected wheel bearing play , none of the above is causing the problem , im posting here caus none of the above obvious problems exist hoping for the off the wall ideas im stumped
just because theres no play in the wheel bearing doesnt mean that it isnt the cause of the noise....90% of the wheel bearings that ive seen make a growling noise had no play. but start with the basics....swap stock wheels on or rotate ur tires and see if the noise goes away. if the noise is still the same, drive the car while its growling, and steer hard left and right, if the noise goes away when turning to one side, its probably a bearing. use a stethescope or screwdriver with ur ear on the knuckle at designated speeds while the tires are in the air to find out which wheel it is.
