TURBO QUESTION
hey, i am running a Airresearch turbo with 5psi on a stock acura LS BI8B engine. (NON VTEC). i want the car as a daily driver. people tell me that the engine has to be built in order to handle a turbo. like performance pistons and camshafts, etc. however my engine is completely stock. am i running a risk of blowing the engine. or will it be reliable enough to handle 5psi in its stock form?? any help would be appreciated.
yea a friend told me that a fuel pressure regulator would be a good idea also, but that and the injectors would be the thing to look out for. hey and btw, if anyone knows. with a turbo setup would a straight pipe with a muffler be the best thing, or can it be a cat back exhaust??
at 5psi u should b fine as it is, with catback that's close to 2.5" no need to go bigger unless u planning to build ur motor and go for bigger turbo.
straight pipe exhaust will make more noise than power, stick to resonated
if u upgrade fuel pump and injectors, fuel pressure reg would be very useful for tuning in this case. for u it would b a waste unless u planning to go bigger in future
