the ecu will work, but not sure if it will run right tho. Tranny and axles, and dizzy will work. my friend has d16y7 in his, and used all of his obd0 components.
as long as i can get it to run good im happy... what im worried about is all the obd-o parts with a obd-2 motor like the CPS and maf on the TB.. or do i swap the intake from the a6 on to the y8 will that work?
i would swap if you just want to get it running. if you want a bit more power sticck with ther y8 mani, but you will need somewhere to place the iat sensor. CPS wont be plugged in, and there wont be any problem if it isnt. I would change out the tb to your obd0, cuz it would be easier.
Without the second set of lobes on the cam that engine isn't going to run that great especially if she ever gets on the highway.
Fuel maps are going to be all wrong with your stock ECU.
Seriously consider chipping and 1 wire vtec.
(Is your EX manual or auto??)
Stock tranny will bolt right up so no worries on the the tranny nor the driveshafts.
Your stock distributor will bolt right up to the Y8 head so staying OBD-0 is easy.
Not sure if the A6 distributor will bolt up to the Y8 IM, but it would be better for your idle if you can get it on there. You can use the Y8 TB as well, but will most likely need to adjust the idle screw to get the RPM high enough.
If you use the Y8 IM then flip the throttle cable bracket over to get the cable to fit decently.

also make sure your y8 intake isnt off an auto if your gona use it. the a6 dizzy might not bolt up to the y8 without trimming the ears. i had an a6 dizzy on a d15b vtec and i had to trim the ears but i ran it all obd0 without vtec for a while no problems.
you say the lopes will make the car run like ****? is there anyway around that?? or should i just sell the d16y8 and buy a nother d16a6? she just needs a good DD for work a bout 60 miles a day...hell i only paid 300$ for the car thats super clean(old lady owned) 251,133 miles on the body with no rust and i got the motor from a buddy that told me if i pull it and give him 50$ bucks its mine.. so i did..
oh and its a auto d16y8

Use the Y8 one as long as it's a manual trans intake. It's supposably the best oem D-series intake. You can run the A6 dizzy, and ecu- But you will not have vtec.
even though her car is auto, and the intake is from an auto, it wont work. the iacv on the auto y8 im is different than the standard type iacv found on the manual y8 im. the obd0 ecu has no way of controlling it properly. so if you're going to keep the y8 then use the a6 dizzy (it will bolt up perfectly), and retain the a6 intake manifold.
Its a straight swap without replacement. only 3 things need to be changed - the dizzy, the alternator, and the intake manifold. the dizzy from the a6 will bolt directly to the y8 head.
you'll need to lengthen the wires for your cooling fan switch and use the connector from the y8. the switch is on the back of the block on the a6 and the y8 has it on the thermostat housing. the torque converter flexplate may be diffirent. id use the one from the a6 to be safe.
