Buying a car: RSX, RSX-S, or Civic Si?
This is similar to the other thread on here but that guy is looking for a cheap daily driver whereas I'm looking for a car that I can use to daily drive and for track days so I didn't want to post in his thread and end up threadjacking it. Also, I know this is kind of an opinion thread but I'm looking for people who can comment and that I may be able to toss some ideas off of.
So I'm finally selling my 97 GSR to get something newer. I have 4 realistic options (I want to stick with a Honda):
1. 2002 RSX
2. 2002 RSX Type-S*
3. 2005 RSX*
4. 2002 Civic Si
*will be tight financially
First, am I going to regret it forever if I don't get the Type-S? They're much more expensive than the RSX and I'm going to get nailed on the insurance (I have an unlucky driving record) so it's going to be tight financially to buy one but I'm concerned that if I buy the RSX I'm going to hate myself forever.
Second, I know the 2005 RSX brought a few revisions to the chassis and everything. I love the look of the new front bumper and the OEM wheels on the 2005 but again the insurance for an 05 RSX is comparable to the 02 Type-S so I am in the same boat as above. Is it worth it to go for the newer RSX?
Third, has anyone driven both the RSX and the Civic Si? Which do you prefer? I really like the 'hot hatch' look of the EP3 but the RSX is sleeker and sportier and is similar to my Integra right now.
Also, I'm probably going to supercharge whichever car I get. (May or may not affect your answers)
Thanks for the help I appreciate it.

I have a rsx type s, 2006, and I have driven my friend's civic si, 2006. I have to say in my opinion, I prefer the Type S. I hate they stopped production of the DC5 for the the SI. RSXS body style is way better, and they handle about the same, but the DC5 tops it, the lower front end gives it the edge. Do not settle for the base model RSX, get the type s. Just learn to watch your speed and leave the illegal street stuff to the track. Spending 10 to 20 dollars for a day at the track is way more worth it, than a 120+ ticket. But that is up to you. I give 2 thumbs up for the DC5 type s. But you should go and test drive them both and see what you like.
I think that's what I'll probably end up doing. It's not that much more for the extra 60hp. It's going to be a squeeze but I'm going to have the car for at least the next 2 years so I don't want to regret it.
Does anyone know what type of HP to expect with a JRSC? I started checking out the thread but it's like 500 pages long and takes forever to find any information.
How about the Comptech Supercharger?

the jrsc and the comptech both have the same charger, you will just be buying a brand name with comptech...anyway i have had two friends that added the jrsc to their k20a2 and one got 302whp with 7 psi and the other got 316whp with 11 psi, both cars have regular bolt-on mods, i/rh/e/rbc/kpro....this is with tuning

From what I have heard/read about I would strongly suggest an 02-03 type s. If you had to cheap out I would say rsx over ep3. I would rather a gsr than an ep3 tho...
If your looking for the size probably the hatch but if you like the sleek design and ride height I would go for the Rsx.
As far as the base rsx vs. Type s. It all depends on the cash that you can put out to fix your ride. The more money you have to spend on the car the faster the car will be.
But for me I went for the base rsx just because the base have lower compression ratio and I can put more boost. I know the type s have two vtech one for the low rpm and the other for the high rpm but once you have the supercharger or turbo, it really doesn't matter. The way I see it the lower rpm vtech is just in the way of the boost. And if you don't have money to boost your rsx the base consumes less fuel and takes lower grade that way you can save a little toward your sc or turbo. Then afterward it really doesn't matter.
