Where to run the amp wire through firewall on 92 Civic?
I know I have to drill a hole either way. I just want to know how you guys did it so I won't make any mistake. Pics are welcome. Thank you
there are no grommets that you can go through anywhere??..check upper left and right of both the passenger and driver kickpanel areas before you drill

There is a factory grommet in the firewall right below the battery that your underhood wiring goes through. Carefully slit it with a razor blade and feed your wire through (no bigger than 4 gauge, if using 0 gauge drill a hole and use a good watertight grommet)
Pick up a small tube of clear silicone caulk and caulk around the wire.

i looked again still not finding anything usable. drivers side has a small plug in the 'carpet' which i removed, tried to look into this hole. drilled it all the way through but i cant find where it poked out on the engine bay, prob behind more metal. I'm thinking about widening the hole for the washer fluid which runs to the rear windshield but that will require a little more work because i'll have to trace that rubber line to find a place to disconnect it so I can access the hole freely
Before you remove your battery, check on the drivers side of your car for the wiring harness going into the cabin. I think I was wrong about the location. I have a run of 0 gauge that I ran underneath the battery, the factory grommet/wiring is on the drivers side
damn too late already removed the battery, got confused by that point anyways, how do you pull that grommet out? just grab it with a pliers and tug or what lol its stubborn
ya the grommets just pop in. make sure you dont pull the wires, just the grommet. and for your mystery hole that you drilled, for future reference. i use a wire hanger it will come out somewhere, wherever it comes out, what i do, is tape the wire to the hanger and pull the hanger back thru. may not be the right way, but thats how i do it and ive been doing it for years
You don't pull the factory grommet out, you make a small cut with razor blade and feed the wire through into the cabin. Can you take a pic of the grommet you are looking at?

i assume this is the grommet youre talking about slicing and sliding the wire through

thanks , will this wire pop out behind the carpeting or will it be in plain view? too late to work on it now gotta work in the morn
If you can not find an unused hole on the pass. side of the car drill one and install a grommet, you should not be running a power cable across your engine bay if you find an unused hole, pop the dummy plug out and "cut" a hole the same size as your cable, do not cut a slit, either drill or punch a hole in it.
Using grommets with wiring already in it can be very tricky, there is a chance that you will damage the wiring, also in most cases the hole in grommet is just big enough for the wiring in it, jamming another 8-4 gauge cable into it is not a good idea.
If you have a problem with drilling a hole, I would be willing to bet just about any installer at a car audio/video/security install bay, [mom and pop shops the best] will do it for a cup of coffee, on a 92 Honda civic I would do it for a extra large Tim Hortons. 94

if you cant get it through the grommet, just drill a small hole. I have my amp power as well as my foglight switch coming through a small hole I drilled in the floor just behind the clutch. I recommend going as small as possible, and when all is said and done, run some silicone around it to keep it water tight. I actually just checked it the other day when i was messing with my carpet and after 6 years, still not even the slightest hint of rust or moisture around the hole
There is plenty of room in the existing grommet to accommodate a 4 gauge wire along with all the other wire. Running a power wire across the firewall inside the engine is fine as long as it is fused and loomed.

There may be room for a 4ga but that does not mean you have to. 94
