The crossover point on a turbo car will be different from a stock map. Depending where on the RPM range the torque and hp crossing point is, should be where the VTEC crossover point is set. Some one with more experience correct me if I'm wrong.

I would be very carefull choosing that!

you have a b16 and if your going to use the b16 tranny youll be running about 18miles per 1000rpms using stock sized tires now if you think of it you would be in vtec at 80 if you drop the vtec engagement to 4.5k, 80 is a speed almost everyone hits very often on the freeway and you car would be drinking gas if it was in vtec and on boost. so either evaulate all that before you change the swithover or get a longer 5th like say an ls,the ls5th with the b16 final will get about 21 per 1k rpm so your crossover being set at 4.5k would mean no vtec in 5th untill about 95 mph= much better!

Using a dyno & tuning the vehicle would be the correct way to find the best point.

vtec engagement is diff for each car. its not determined by where the torque and hp crossover on the dyno graph. almost every properly running engine crosses around 5250 if i remember right. given majority of b16s are in the same area. one might be 4500 another 4700 or 4900. the engagement should be determined during a tuning session. the stock point is 5800rpm though. my setup is b16a on 9lbs with vtec at 4800rpm.

you do it on the dyno

set vtec low then set it high
overlay the dyno graphs

where the lines cross, you set vtec at that point

things can effect the the vtec point such as turbo spool, how high the engine revs, cam choice, different block and head combos.
