mounting depth of front speakers on a 95 civic
i got a 95 4 door civic planning on hooking up a set of components...before i buy any anybody know what the mounting depth is for the front doors?
you can also swap the oem mount out for an aftermarket one or make an mdf one. many component sets will also come with these rings(alpine type r's have a great set, but these do need an amp to reach there full potential). just keep in mind proper mounting and some good sound deadener like dynamat extreme will play a critical role in how well you component woofers sound.
The stock speaker is a standard 6.5", [5" diameter mounting hole and a 2" mounting depth] an extra 1/2"-3/4" of depth can be gained by cutting a hole in the back of the speaker housing for the magnet of an aftermarket to fit through, you can also gain another1/2"-1" by using a spacer between speaker housing and speaker.
As mentioned replacing the stock speaker housing with a custom MDF housing will not only allow for up to 3" deep over-sized 6.5" even some 7" speakers it also will improve SQ by a lot. 94

is it true tht the 95 4 door lx models didn't come with rear speakers? mine has no speakers, and it does not look like there was ever any there..
