Default decisions

hello i am new to this site and would like to say hello to all.
i am in need of some help as i am stuck in a bind haha.

a while ago a buddy and i picked up a honda civic 4dr with a b16A swap in it for free. when we got it it had a broken timing belt. we replaced the timing belt and for the last few months it ran like a champ. my buddy put nos to it and one time running it down the track the motor backfired and ever since it ran like crap and started to smoke. we pulled the head off of it and noticed that 2 of the pistons were broke and one was cracked. the whole time the motor had a compression of 200 except #1 cyl with 190. getting to my bind. we are unsure if it would be cheaper to buy a diffrent bottom end and go bigger or just rebuild the bottom end weve got. and which way would you guys think would be better. and if a new bottom end would be better what kind of bottom end

thanks in advance for all the advice.

B16 short blocks are a dome a dozen, if that is where you want to go. Some will preach the B20VTEC. It is all a matter of personal choice. Just don't squeeze on it without some engine management to pull timing and add fuel when juicing.
