Default Just curious...who else has this happened to? (Wheel Bearing Issues)

It seem to be a common prob for the S2k

My rear left bearing went out...and needs replacing. 01 S2k with 80k miles...just regular spirited driving here and there...

Who else has had this happen? How to prevent it?

I just replaced my left rear today. It was the second one in a week too. I am not sure what caused the first two to go bad.

Second wheel bearing in a week....failure on your part. No problems here.

Um, seriously, how is it I failed to install the bearing properly? It only goes one way, its not like its complicated to install.

Well, if you dont install the axle nut, it will turn to **** real fast. Even if you did install it correctly, if it failed again within a week (vs. the 150k+ they usually last) then there is some other issue causing your problem that you failed to identify.

Something is seriously wrong if you destroyed a bearing in one week. I would naturally assume install error as well.

What kind of sound does it make when the bearing fails? Is it sort of like a thumping sound when you start moving?

a lot of racers have problems with rear wheel bearing because of the heat from the rear brakes. rear brakes are usually hotter than the front because it's a solid disk.

more than likely it is related to the axle nut torque

So you guys that have gone through multiple wheel bearings, do you just replace them routinely, or have you fixed the issues that have caused them to fail?? I'm getting some noise from mine here recently.

This is exactly what I want to get at...

How to prevent it?

I really dont want to have to repair them often. It took mine 82k miles to go bad...just dont want to replace my right one soon...

BUMP!

Sorry for the NOOB question but what is TSB?

Does it refer to some recall...?? Should the dealership have replaced this at no cost? LOL
