NEED HELP ....OIL LEAK...Dart Block
Hey guys..my car is an 00 ITR a 2.0l Dart tall block with Eagle crank and itr head and garret t67 turbo{the rest shouldnt matter}.The car has been running good on just the waste gate{15psi}..but had an annoying leak out the rear main seal behind the flywheel..
So i ripped everything out and had my Mechanic replace the seal wich went fine. The old seal even looked fine. on the jack stands I layed under the car at an idle the new seal seemed fine. Then i took the car out for a pull or two and realized shes drippin again ..from the rear main UGGGGG.Now i have heard 2 ideas as to why and both could be right but i thought id ask here..1 could the Eagle crank be over polished were it meets the seal? or spun the wrong way during production were the seal seats?..2. to much crankcase pressure is pushin it out?...i have a catch canoff the valve cover and it barely collects any fluid. wouldnt it be filling up if i had to much pressure?..........some people are recomending an exhaust vac line but i thought i would check on here and go see my mech first .....THANKS FOR ANY HELP U CAN OFFER....with my crammed engine bay droppin trans isnt fun anymore...but at least i was able to install my last innovative mount...otherwise id be even more choked

hey whats up man i have almost same setup dart 2.0l tall deck type r head ..i allso have a eagle crank i had same problem with my main seal.i did a breather from the freeze plugs on back of the block and i have no more leaky main seal. try a breather form the block should work..i hope i could send you in the right direction
Thank You Tons....all info very appreciated..i was just at my mech/tuner guys ..and were gonna try a couple things.. he suggested trying to run a breather instead of an oil cap and see what happens {although my catch can is also ran off the valve cover} .. And im under the impresson that the head is under the same amount of pressure as the crank case...but im definetly going to run that by him...Hell ill try almost everything before i start rippin out the trans again... THANKS PLEEZE KEEP THE HELP COMING

i have a 2.1L dart talldeck also - i can tell you that the fit and finish from dart is TEH SUX. I don't know if it can be machined to correct your issue, but it might possibly be an imperfection from the factory. fwiw, my sleeves sank. THANKS DART! :/

The sinking sleeve issue is one that scares the life out of me to think of spending a ton of cash just to start back over at square one. Then again I'm not trying to make insane power either. I know of this happenning twice to someone I know personally.
seems seems to fit properly ....and i belive its leaking at the crank not on the block side.. im going to try and run a breather of the back of the block .. tonight i ran a big breather were my oil cap goes and it might have helped a bit ? this way there were to breathers of the vc

nope i took the box out and put a plug that came with the breather kit i got from endyne..i had the pcv box on the back when my main seal was leaking took it out because when you install the breather kit you dont need that black box anymore
I just set it up so that the hose from the head enters into that blackbox and its hooked into the block, as u are aware. Now i took out the pcv valve and plugged off the line going to my intake manifold.. and then from the pvc outlet on the box i ran 3/8 hose up and tied it intomy catch can{eliminating the pcv valve} ......So essentially the black box has become a prebreather for my catchcan.
Now when i took it for a couple pulls the car seemed to idle a little better ..and there was a bit of ''vapour'' that u could see exiting the catch can {cold night also}.The car ran strong and acted normal but when i pulled it into the garage its still seems to be leaking fromthat rear seal!....Im goin f***n nuts here .Im almost sure the is no positive pressure in the crankcase do to this open breather system??...next step might be a ready sleeve for the eagle crank.....and i dont really feel like doing that...all helpi s really appreciated ...im gettin pretty mad here

Are u positive its the rear main? I ask b/c I chased a similar problem, but it ended up being the tranny shaft seal.. To make sure I put dye in the tranny fluid to troubleshoot.. just a thought..
its a possibility but gear oil has a very unique smell to it and im pretty sure its motor oil....were do u get this dye and whats it called ?? it would be nice assurance to rule out the trans 100% because this is really startn to bug me.
