windshield molding question...
Alright, so I got my windshield replaced. They said all 3 moldings were included on the phone. Well, the jacka$$ comes out, says they are not, and that I will have to get them from my local Honda dealership. No biggie, so I call up my friend at the dealership... $130 for replacement moldings, HIS COST.
Personally, I stick with OEM parts, or upgraded parts when repairing stuff 99% of the time. I find it pretty hard to pay that much for 3 small plastic strips to go around my windshield.
So my question, anybody have any experience with after market windshield moldings? If so, where did you get them from, and how much?
for those of you who are confused on what I am talking about... These 3 pieces!

Thanks in advance,
Robbie

Hello i am a professional auto glass installer. The only molding you can get that is after market for your car is the top piece. The sides are supposed to be re usable. We buy the top peice and a package of oem clips that hold the side molding on so it comes out nice. Be very careful which company you let put your window in your car. Anyways as long as they dont bend the sides they are tottally usable. i wouldnt recomend buying anything but oem parts or you will not be happy. Even the windshield should be oem. By the way are you going through your insurance company or your own pocket? If its insurance your window better say honda on it or they are getting over on you.
Replacing the windshield was out of pocket. It has already been done, and is not OEM. As for the side moldings, most of the clips were broken, and the moldings were not in the greatest condition (as the car is 15 years old), so I just figured I would replace them (and why not when they said on the phone, and I asked them twice to make sure, that the moldings were all 3 included). I will have to check to see if I even still have the old ones.
If you dont mind me asking, where is a good place to get after market clips/top strip from if I can dig up my old side moldings? Not looking to spend almost as much as the glass/install costed on 3 molding pieces.
Thanks again.

the clips from honda should only be like $5 but if you want aftermarket they come from wholesale company like PPG. when you replace the clips just make sure you cut the excess glue away so the new clips sit nice. its pretty easy to do as long as you snap the molding on only once so you dont break any of those clips. Line them up all perfect. try http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/ decent prices for OEM.
damn shitty situation, when i got mine redone i stood right there when he told me 'oh ur gonna need new clips, they break'. he didnt break any with me there on his side and they reused the side portions of the molding along with a new top piece...
