Default Headunit install, fried something :(

Hey guys, I just installed a new headunit in my car and apparently fried something. My right side of my cluster doesn't light up and I've swapped good bulbs in which still don't work. Also, my climate control ***** don't light up either but they do function. I blew a fuse somehow during the install that controlled my tailights and turn signals and replaced that.

I've checked over all my connections and fuses and everything seems fine. Any ideas from the electrical gurus? I'm at a loss at the moment. Oh, and yes... My cd player and everything else works fine.

I don't think I disconnected it, well at least not on purpose. Could that effect the cluster? I'll check it in the morning.

LOL it's not my fault, I wanted to help him but then I saw a rainbow-colored signature and couldn't take anything seriously

If you check the fuses and they're all okay (including the underhood fuse box) then look at the OEM Helms manual and follow the trouble shooting guidelines. If you don't have the Helms manual, you can download a free copy over @ ephatch dot com.

There, I helped.

Ya'll are just jealous I can rock a rainbow sig it's an inside joke between my local buddies. When you get together with the buddies to work on a car and one of the guys bakes a funfetti cake, you hold on to that memory! Haha greasy guys eating rainbow cake is pretty hard core. Just wait til you see our stickers!

Ps: I blew a trace inside my cluster from a short when a wire became disconnected. So now I get to dissassemble my cluster & solder that trace back this weekend.

Glad you solved the problem.

I know Radio Shack used to sell a conductive ink pen that would act like solder, but you just draw it on. Might be a good alternative to solder so you don't melt anything.

I looked for that pen but they didn't have it anymore. I just used a regular soldering iron and soldered the trace. Put the cluster all back together, adjusted my needles, and back to normal! Thank god! I was tired of driving in the dark.
