Default PLease read.... New head unit not lighting up.

OKay so I bought A new head unit.
its all wired up right, everything is soildiered. And the unit has power becuase the red light blinks and I can put a cd in and take it out. The face plate however will not light up or turn on. What should I check. If it matters my climate control and cluster does not light up ethier. Thanks

did you proprerly connect the 'Ill" wire for illumanation., but if your cluster light dont light up you have a biger problem, check a fuses

Can you play the CD?

My friend had that problem, turned out the screen was deffective...they sent him a new one for free, but none-the-less, see if it works..

but if no screen, why is he getting no dash lights?

u blew the fuse, check it , i believe its a 7.5 amp cause the same happened to me.

which fuse do I check?
Alos, went to best buy and got a new one. same thing happened so what is it?

As others have stated, it sounds like a blown fuse.

Did you disconnect the battery before you did the wiring?

how does that matter, I have done over 50 headunit install's on many different cars, never had to disconnect the battery?

check the fuses man, the interior ones and the ones under the hood.

It is always a good idea to disconnect the battery when working on wiring in a vehicle. You elminate the risk of accidental shorts or other issues. If the original poster didn't do so, there is obviously a much greater chance that a blown fuse is the problem.

umm... did u reset the unit???

alpines have this little red dot.. that u push in with a pin/paper clip..

it should solve ur problem with ur display not showing anything...
