Default Audi A3 downpipe

I'm still quite new to Audis so it was nice a customer of mine needed a custom downpipe made up.

It's increadibly tight so needed a tight radius bend to get it to fit right. I haven't made many pie cut downpipes, so was quite pleased with how it turned out.

He needed it in a hurry so I had to use the original downpipe flange (not what I normally do).

the customer was really pleased with it.

Thanks for looking!

Not bad.

What were you using to do the cuts with?

My chopsaw is great for straight, 45's, etc, but I can't do pie's b/c it leaves nothing to hold onto.

huh? what do you mean hold on to? my chop saw will do pie cuts fine. it's just cutting straight tube at a specific angle....nothing special.

I think he means pie cutting mandrel bends to make tighter bends. It's a bit trickier to hold on to the bend in some cases.

The pie cut bend at the start is fine, but the rest of the cuts/bends look needlessly cheated/off axis and kinda nasty IMO.

ohhh i gotchya. yeah it is harder to hold bent tubing in the clamp on the saw. But if i needed a really tight bend i would start from scratch and make it completely out of pie cuts.

And you're right about the OP's looking slightly off in some spots, but there aren't really any severe edges in the downpipe. It looks like it should flow fine.

Yeah I think I need more practice with pie cuts. i may cut them from scratch next time instead of using a 90 deg bend, but I think it should flow fine as there aren't really any harsh angles.

Thanks for the comments.
