engine vin...help
Ok so, my old engine blew off and my friend knows a guy that works on a machine shop where they fix blocks and heads , we purchased the whole block and tranny for a good price after the installation and a few months after I realized that there's no vin munber on either one , I live in cali and we have high way patrol popping hoods and I'm trying to get. Everything legal and we went back to the place and the owner of the shop sold the place so there's no way to prove it that its not stolen, WHAT ELSE CAN I DO ?
You will probably be okay if you have a receipt that shows that you paid for that motor/transmission. If you have that, even they take you to court, you can show that you purchased the motor. If they find out that it is in fact stolen, they might take it from you but you still won't be in trouble since you have a receipt to show for it.
Well not. In trouble but I have some offers on my civic but they want proff of the engine not beeing stolen , my friend has the receipts and everything he moved to arizona so I'm left alone with this issue
Not all engines came with vin? Well from what I noe its a jdm b16a and I think came off a 93 sir. Where other place could I look for the vin on the engine?

Hate to say it, but if they removed the tags it problaly isn't legit. if you can't find a flat spot with 2 holes going into the block, then you don't have any tags to worry about.
jdm motors never came with a vin number as far as Pothole987 says the engine code cannot be traced it is a casting number only so if the motor is jdm and the tranny is jdm there is no way to prove if it is stolen so your fine, but living cali you the cops will send you to the ref so that should be your main concern
