How to find out if your engine is stolen
MODs Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I didnt know where it belonged
Well my question is how do you know if a motor is stolen. I want to buy an engine, the guy swears its legit, but since its not a shop i cant really get papers or a reciept.
I know how much i would hate it if someone stole my engine and then sold it, i would hope that the buyer would have the decency to make sure the motor was legit (even though the world doesnt work like that)
so basically is there anything i can do?????????

the only thing you can do is run the serial # (under the engine code) by your local pd/ sheriffs/ state trooper (CHP in cali). they keep a database of stolen goods. if they say its not stolen, then they can't possibly get you for possesion of a stolen motor.
this was one of the main reasons why i bought my 2nd motor from a shop: i know its 100% legit. and i have a warranty! try http://www.hmotorsonline.com or http://www.attarco.com . great prices. it may cost a bit more at first, but you get piece of mind knowing that its legit.
