Default Input shaft bearing and Seal Replacement

Ok on my 1994 civic with a d16y8 swap. I have my 5speed tranny out open and the gear cluster out. I called the auto parts store and they cant find the input shaft bearing and seal for it they say they dont list one or is it called somthing else? I dont know what year honda the motor and tranny came out of. When getting replacement parts what a safe year honda to go with since I cant say 1994 civic?

I know my 00 civic ex has the d16y8. Thats a safe model year to go with, but any 96-00 civic ex should work. I believe the part you are looking for is called the Mainshaft Bearing.

Im by no means a xmission xpert, but i believe hondas dont actually have input and output shafts, those are for different styles of transmissions. On the d16y8, theres the mainshaft, which connects with the countershaft that then turns the differential gear which turns the axles and tires. The "input shaft" on the d16y8 is the part of the mainshaft that connects to the engine. The "output shaft" i believe is the differential gear which turns the wheels. Plz dont take this to heart as im sure someone with alot more knowledge will come in here and rip my info to shreds.

Well I thank you for your help That does make sence what your saying. Im only replacing the main shaft bearing and there is a bearing at the rear of the gear cluster that just comes off Im going to replace the other ones i think i need a bearing puller and there is 2 on one of the shafts heald on by a nut and I think it might be preloaded so I dont want to mess with it and Im replacing all the seals. The guy before me said it leaked gear fluid. I think when he replaced the Cv Shaft he damaged a seal. Then when it ran low to many times the main shaft bearing started howling.
