Default lsv in a gsr block

Hey guys if searched around a lot on the web and read alot about this topic....but just wanna here some more input.

I have a complete b18c1 block with bad pistons, so my friend gave me an ls crank, rods and pistons for free. I am now thinking about just going this route.

my question is will i have deck clearance with the ls rods and pistons. most people i see run custom length rods rods an pistons. Will i have an proble runing all oem ls parts in my gsr block.

Also is there a way to shave/bend the oil squirters so that they still are usefull instead of buying the plugs.

Any help would be great thanks guys!

Read up in this thread, most if not all your answered have been covered, the OP and myself both have ls crank and rods in our gsr block, he went with 81.5mm ITR pistons, and I went with 82mm PR3's.

thanks lots of good info in that thread.

It seemed like no one was running pr4(LS) pistons. Should i have any problems with deck clearance if i run thoes with a stock pr3 head.

the valve pockets in those pistons are in the wrong place for a vtec head. the rod cap bolts on non vtec rods are designed for a 6500rpm motor. if you address those 2 problems youll be fine. if you dont address those problems and just slap everything together, your motor will probably run for about 3 oil changes.

Planing to go turbo

Im ordering arp rod bolts. i was thinking a bout ls pistons (cause i have them,i also have b16 pistons) but i was thinking my CR would be pretty high. thats why i figured Ls pistons would suite a boosted application better.....but if the valve pockets dont line up...

apples to oranges here but

i have run my lsvtec ls stock block gsr head itr cams for 3 years with no issues, 8k pulls everyday. maybe im lucky but i had the proper oil and water pumps for vtec.

i have done this set up. and its currently in my car. i have a gsr block ls crank and ls rods with arp rods bolts. w/ b16 p30 pistons, b16 head with gsr camshafts. i use a oem head gasket. all acl race bearings. had the rod resize after the arp rod bolts were pressed in. i all u need to do is bend the oil squirters a tad bit so it clear the crank and u should be fine. my motor has about 800 miles as of today. so far so good. after the 1000 mile break in im going to get it tune so it can reach its full potential!
