Default best non v-tec ECU to add v-tec

i was wondering if there was any non-vtec ecu's out there that are easier to add v-tec to then others, and does anybody have a good write-up on how to add it? also, are there any problems when modifying an ecu for this?

11f0 boards are easier to convert (p06-a02,p06-a52,p05-a02,p05-a52) etc.
Various vendors including us sell conversion kits with instructions.

i guess you would refer to this one as a "1720" board, so im guessing it is possible but how much more is involved as supposed to the "11f0" boards?

Yes, the 1720 board can be converted, the 5 speed a01 model you have requires a little more work.

now i found the write up on xenocron http://www.xenocron.com/install/1720.htm but it doesn't resemble my board....am i missing something? could it be because this is for an "a51" ecu rather then the "a01" like mine?

The a51 is an automatic and does not require the 3 resistors at rm11....

ahhh, so the ECU shown in the write up has all the added resistors due to being an auto ecu? would i be able to remove a resistor similiar to RM11 from and old PM5 (89 auto crx) ecu to use in the p06 so as not to have the gaggle of connecting resistors?

Adding the resistors is not a big deal if you have smaller resistors & soldering skill.
