Default b16 ctr w/ gsr head?

I'm new at doing all motor builds and want to know if a b16a with ctr pistons will do fine with a pnp gsr head with aftermarket internals and gsr cams? can someone help me out here.

It'll work but that's a waste to put a ported head on with only GSR cams, assuming it was ported by someone who knew what they're doing. Was the head shaved at all? What about the block?

if i'm not mistaken the block was honed and hot tanked. the head is milled for more compression but i dont know if the b16 block will give me what i'm looking for.

If you are looking for ~110 ft-lbs. of torque and ~ 160 HP, you will have what you are looking for.

I would check Piston-head clearance before you put it together. The ctr's maybe be above the deck giving you less than a headgasket thickness before they touch.

i was actually looking for more.... more than a gsr.. i would figure i would hit an easy 190HP with a gsr block and itr pistons. but since i found a b16 with ctr pistons i would get around the same since ctr has more compression

Not exactly. In general, more displacement=more power.
B16=1.6 liters.
GSR=1.8 liters.
190 WHP on a GSR is "easy" if you select the right parts and proper tuning. It is also very "easy" to spend lots of money on the wrong parts and come up short. 190+ B16 whp on a Dynojet is not as easy to achieve as some back yard pundits may have led you to believe.
