my new 1988 ef hatch, HELP
whats up, im new here i kinda need to find my way around so i guess ill start by posting this, i had a 1991 crx si, i loved that thing, it was stock engine with some bolt ons, but still i thought it was pretty quick, sold it for 2500.00 now just this past weekend i bought a 90 ef hatch. paid 500 for it. and its got a b16a engine in it. the thing is that this car has a bad starter, well despite that i want to pull the engine and re-build it. the thing is that i dont know if i want it turbod, or natrually aspired. help me out. this is the first time that ill be doing this to any car ive ever bought. what is the best way to go, how do i get its moneys worth from the turbo, or what can make it fast without turbo, and reasonable on my wallet.

Well what are you plans for the car? Are you gonna drag race it then yes a turbo will be good, if your going to street drive it and auto cross then just build a na motor. Nothing will be cheap if you want it to be reliable though.
i want it street legal. a daily badass driver. thats all. no nos is not an option, that is redundent and nieve. i want a monster. well what do u think about the b16a motor?
what's wrong with NOS?
my eg coupe makes an awesome/fun daily driver with B18C1 lightly built head and when i flip the switch i'm smoking just about anyone on the street..
tuned right NOS is super safe and reliable.. just do your homework

This guys a moron or watched to many FATF movies. and turbo's can be pricey. you also have to have your motor tuned after you put a turbo in to protect it from crappy boost and damage. b16's are kind of under powered but since you have it and want a DD car, then just make it NA to the make. shave the block, port n polish the head. run skunk2 head internals. stage 2 cam, at a cold air, headers, skunk2 intake manifold for higher rev and ur good to go. thats a nice set up for any motor, and can b very reliable, but make sure if you put the turbo in to have it TUNED, or ur motor is toast, but just stay NA, idunno just my $0.02

Because it is unsafe and moronic to run nitrous on the street. You can not just slimly let off the gas as you could with a turbo or na car. The nitrous is still feeding in to the motor which you would have to put it in nuteral or turn off the motor both which are not good. And the fact nitrous is highly illegal to run on the street if your bottle is turned on your focked.
True but we as 4cly owners only have 1 header. Ha sorry had to throw that in. And if you build your motor you will need a tune also. You can't just throw cam, pistons, crank, intake manifold, ect.... on a car and expect the stock ecu to know whats going on. Either way a nice faster dd is going to cost you around $1500+/- to build and get it tuned and running good.
