H22 trans questions
i have a 94 si im putting a h22a swap into. I DO NOT WANT TO GO H2B. i plan on being and the drag strip rather often with a simple NA build and i am trying to figure out the best trans to put in my car. i have an m2j5 currently and from my research it has a 4.062 final drive and it seems like the best that i can find is 4.266. so every thing i have read would be the m2b4 trans. but i was wonding if anyone on here has taken gears from one trans and put them into another for a hybrid trans. if so what did you take the gears out of? and what gears? also if i switch gears what syncros do i use? and what trans are compadible with switching gears?
here is a little bit or research i did to try to find lowest/highest gear ratios to put in one trans
I got all the information listed below from this site https://honda-tech.com/forums/showthread.php?p=38971156 on Honda tech for NA which would be the best set up? And is it possible to switch gears between the M2XX trans'?

You can swap/mix/match any 3rd, 4th, and 5th between all the H22 trans. 1st and 2nd have to be swapped together as a pair because they are machined into the main shaft. Note, the H22 trans that come with factory LSD have a different case and should be avoided if you want to put an aftermarket LSD or FD into them.
I don't know about drag. but for road racing the 4th gen VTEC prelude (M2F4) has the best overal gearing when mated with a 4.7, or 5.15 FD from Mfactory.
If your going to build the ultimate H22 trans for raceing I would do something like this:
1st - 3.285 / 92-96 prelude 2.0i (M2j4) EuDM
2nd - 1.807 / 92-96 prelude 2.0i (M2j4) EuDM
3rd - 1.481 / 92-96 Accord R (T2W4) JDM
4th - 1.071 / 92-96 prelude VTEC (M2F4) USDM
5th - 0.870 / 92-96 prelude VTEC (M2F4) USDM
Final Drive: 5.15 from Mfactory
A good LSD.
That would make an all OEM geared "hybrid" close ratio gear set, but good luck finding the JDM & EuDM gears without buying the entire trans for a crap load of $$.

thank you for the info something else i was thinking was putting a diff final drive and an lsd in my m2j5 instead of changing all the gears think that would work
Just find a clean shifting M2F4. Ive built every hybrid combo you could think of,.... And broken every one of them too.... 2nd and fourth are the weakest.
At6 least you got your **** straight and arent hopping on the fruity *** h2b bandwagon.
Find a M2F4.. M2 y4 shaft and 1-02 will get you a slightly longer 1-2 with a sacrafice for the weaker 2 gear. The F4 is spaced nicely.
Youll like it.
4th gen prelude. (NON LSD though) food for thought, ive been thrashing my obx diff with well over 650 whp and not an issue yet. Theyre cheap, if you want an LSD trans you could build a F4 with an OBX for as much as youre going to pay for a known good B4... The B4s are known to break the ring gears as well (ask me how I know)>>>IF you DO go that route, they are next to impossible to find, however the ATTS trannys use the VERY SAME RING GEAR.
Thing is you CANNOT use the JDM LSD in any other case than the B4 Case. They are different and it WONT WORK....
Hope this helps.
PM me if you have any specific questions... God knows Ivce built more of these trannys than most have seen...
:O)
