Default just bought a 95 civic dx coupe.. the possibilities.

I am totally new to anything car related, this is my first car and I want to make it faster the stock 102 horse isn't really enough for me. I was wondering what I should put in first.

i don't think i can afford a swap at the moment . my dad is the one who bought the car, I had my eye on a 93 si hatch, but he just went out and bought this one. go figure. I was thinking something to make my car faster for now. I was thinking about a swap later on but I'm not sure, my brother told me I should put an integra engine in it... I was thinking in the way of an intake, exhaust, dunno. just something short of ripping out the engine.

Dude, check this out. I talk to some homie and he said to do this
First, stickers YO! 10 Hp PER STICKER, 30 if you use double color!
Next, Altezzas, like its lighter or something
Finally, STEEL WING, cause when your ride hits 300 mph, you'll stick to the ground!

haha, sorry I had to do that
My advice, to go faster, swap that shiznit! Read thro the forums and you'll figure out what engine is the best. Well Type-R is probably, but a GS-R is easier to get and cheaper. After engine, I/H/E, some good suspension set-up (may not make you faster, but trust me, its a must have). Turbos are always good too
But as I can read, your not ready for the swap, just get I/H/E.
IF YOU really want power, cheaply and a bit dangerously, NOS, but people will flame you here for that.

Any case, Good luck with you Honda!

-Jesse

thx for the reply. I am definitely not going to be a tool and buy cosmetic **** and still run at 102 hp we have a bunch of tools around here that do that, they all put "palmer sports tuning" stickers in their golfs and neons and get ground effects but don't really do anything to their cars (except maybe a muffler). I think I will start saving up for a swap. I might be able to get one next summer if i save up a bit next spring. I can't really afford it now and there isn't much of a point installing it up here in the winter so i'll just save. I will get a new intake and exhaust tho for sure. suspension a maybe if i can get enough money.

I actually might be able to do a swap this fall for a 140 hp B18B1 Dohc LS. Seemingly I can get it for $2,200. How difficult would it be for someone with no car maintenance experience to swap the engines? (me)

LS is a straight-forward bolt-in affair. You'll love the torque of that monster. While waiting for the swap, why not get the suspension ready to handle more power. SImple springs/shock combo will do wonders. I'd suggest Eibach Pro Kit with KYB AGX or Bilstein(have those on my EG) is a great sart. Next: a pair of way bars (GSR front & ITR rear).
