Default Need help deciding on "bolt on's" for a d16y8

okay, so i have a EJ8 and i am trying decide on putting some bolt on's on my d16y8. Its automatic so i dont want to go hard core on it like putting turbo kits. Just basic bolt on's is fine. im willing to spend about $200-$300 on it. Nothing to fancy. Just trying to get a little more power. Any tips or advices? Everything on it is stock by the way

if thats what you're into.... intake/header/exhaust are some basic bolts on in that price range.

but my opinion is, you would be wasting your money trying to make an automatic civic fast/cool.

$300 isn't a whole lot. Either get an intake setup, a used catback, or new axleback. Or try and buy all used intake and exhaust you might be able to pick up something.

go for an intake, its probably the cheaper of some that were previously mentioned and its not requiring u to rip apart ur engine, or get under the car

Save your money....

In all honesty, bolt-ons (of the $300 type) will get you squat with a D-series. You will end up with a loud ricey exhaust and a intake that might give you better throttle response.

Only problem with d-series bolton's is that $2-3 is about half the engines worth, if not the actual worth.

Perhaps the best advice I could give is to make a separate account and put the $300 in there. Save it along with w/e else you might be able to put away and that way when two years from now when you have an EM1 or GSR, you'll find yourself with a grand to play with worry free, rather than a few bucks.

I kick myself now for investing money in my old sohc.
It's a great car just to drive around in and daily.

ebay catback, 150, ebay intake, 40, ebay header, 60

250 spent, around 5-15 to the ground once your ecu "thinks" about the boltons. barely felt. more so throttle response then actual power

You should save your money. Wait it out a little. Most cars that look like **** were put together without thinking because the owner just wanted something right then. It ends up looking/performing bad. I would say stick around on here and keep up your research on motors. If you keep saving you will not only be able to afford a motor swap, but in the time your saving, you will learn how to properly do your swap. simple as that. I know you want something NOW(Lol I was 15 once too) but you could have a really cool car if you invest it properly.

GOOD idea. I wasted so much money on "bolt-on" crap. I would have had a swap a LONG time ago if I just saved the money. Make it look nice that way you actaully like driving it around then save for power.
