wiring problem, please help
Ive got a 95 Cx with a gsr in it. The previous owner hacked the wiring to hell and now my ecu is getting no power. When i hook a direction line from the battery to the ecu power wire (yellow/black) the cars runs fine but with a code 20 for the electronic load detector. Obviously the ecu isnt getting power. Where does this wire run and how could i fix it? i guess theres a short somewhere and i need to get rid of it. I know i should just buy i new harness but its my daily and need to fix it asap. Any help is much appreciated.
man that yellow/black wire runs all through your dash in different area's.. just take your dash out and start looking for a wire snipped or anything and see where you could possibly wire it back up... I had this problem when I did the wire tuck on my hatch and finally the yellow/black wire that I needed to rewire...
first of all dont directly put a wire from the pcm to the battery.. pcms are (usually) supposed to get around 500mAs thats half an amp.. your 12-14.2v battery is putting out alot more then .5A..
just get a voltmeter and find out wich wire is the "power wire" for the pcm and put one of the leads on the wire by the pcm and the other lead by ware it ends at and just start working back wards till you find voltage
or you could ground your black lead and use the red one on the "power wire" for the pcm and again just work backwards till you find voltage then your problem is gonna be someware up to that point
good luck
