Default Check engine light help (i searched)

my ABS had been throwing a code, so i jumped the connector today and i noticed my check engine light kept blinking, so i got the book out and got the codes for that..i got

code 3 (MAP sensor)

code 6 (water temp, but this is on cause i have aftermarket temp gauge in so the oem isnt hooked up)

code 7 (Throttle position)

Code 10 (air intake temp)

my question is...why are these there? the CEL light isnt on when i drive it...i just happend to get them wen i jumped the connectors. And i pulled the hazard fuse out for a minute like it said to reset the ECU and they are still there....

whats going on...is this something to worry?

That is weird...

No check engine light...but when you jumped the connector you get several codes.

To be honest..I know how to check codes but I still don't know the exact process which causes the cel light to come on vs the back end process that takes place when jumping the connector to get your codes.

I'm thinking the codes are genuine. Makes me wonder if the CEL light will come on if you swapped out ECU's

I just did my HG yesterday. Started the car & my cel came on. I jumped the connector and it flashed codes 6 & 10. I've never had any cels' prior too yesterday. Can faulty timing cause this issue? especially if I may be off a tooth, JIC?

1996 civic ex

I replaced
*OEM HG
*OEM V/C & Sprak plug seals
*Mugen Fan swtch
*Gates racing T-stat
* New Rad.
* New Fan

Is the car still running good, or is it doing anything outta whack?

well I knew my spark plug wires needed to be changed prior to because I had low rpm sputtering.

Since my car overheated I figured the sensor is damaged, but I never had a problem w/ the IAT? Driving it around today the sputtering did amplify. I tried to accelerate from 3k rpm at 75 to 85 & the check engine light began to flash, so I backed off.

IAT sensor control fuel, when the incoming air is hot the sensor tells the computor to lessen the fuel, and add more fuel when its cold.

well i started the car yesterday coming home from work and i was driving away it felt like it started to sputter and miss a bit, so i let off the gas and stepped back down and it was fine then, the only real reason i jumped the connector was to get the ABS code and i happend to see the check engine like blinking out codes.

i am wondering if it isnt one of those things that as it slowly starts to go bad, the car slowly loses power and you really dont notice it as much until you really have no choice but to fix it then ur like "wow, this hasnt run this good in awhile"

Thank you ek. I guess I was asking because it failed spontaneously. The night before it was fully operational, did maintenance the following day and @ KOEO it failed?

Yes, that is the only option we have it seems. Be sure to circuit test before you condemn the sensor.

Sensors go bad all the time. theres no telling when there are going to go bad untill it does an cause a CEL, or goes bad, but not enough to cause a CEL. If it hasent been replaced for a good amount of time, maybe it will be time to do so.

yeah i might replace the MAP sensor since thats about the cheapest...and reset the ecu and see if the code goes away...if it does...then i will do the rest...if it doesnt..then just leave it till i have a problem i guess
