immobilizer
hey does anyone know if the immobilizer can actually be taken off . i have a 2000 prelude ecu. if the immobilizer is taken off does it change anything else? like move other pins around or what? i've heard that fuel pins are moved when taking immobilizers off integras.. or that the check engine light will be lost on preludes.. does anyone know what is tru and what is not? thanks

well.....I am currently running a de-immobilized P5m in my 99 civic. My Cel is on constantly and my obd2 scanner wont link to it. So there is no way that I can tell what codes are in it. But besides that it runs fine and vtec and everything else works. I wanted to stay Obd2, and since the Gsr Ecu will make you lose Hp I would suggest a 96 P13 (its still obd2 and they didnt have the immobilizer in them) The only problem is that there hard to find and honda wants $875 for them. Although I have run accross them before. So its either that or an obd1 p13, or I have also heard of using a chipped p28, but then you have to get an aftermarket intake without the IAB's since that ECU doesnt have anything to activate them

Also the other thing I learned is that the immobilizer cuts off your fuel pump, and starter. Since the civic doenst do that your starter will still work with the immobilizer in the ECU. The only other thing you have to worry about is how to activate your fuel pump (and thats the easy part). I'm really curious how good wiring around the immobilizer would work. If it worked then I would probably source another ECU and do it that way.
And no.....there were no pins moved in my ecu......that seems like a fairy tale someone dreamed up (it would be hard to do right)

mark,
thanks alot, well heres my deal, my car will try to start, but wont turn all the way over.. im getting spark, and i hear my fuel pump turn on and the fuel rail is full, but it seems like the injectors arent working, almost like the immobilizer is taking over, ( but i sent it to someone that took the immobilizer off )... so im not sure what the problem is here.. any ideas? thanks
zane
yeah it would be hard to move the pins around...
then since i hear the pump turn on. im assuming its activated like u say?...

Ok.....check this. Mine did the same thing.
Try this out. Take a 12v power source (any will do) and connect it to the IMO Code terminal on the computer.(it will be on the middle connector at the end of the second row of pins) Then turn the ignition on wait till you here the fuel pump cut off....and see what happens. I had to do that to mine for it to work and I dont know why......thats just how it is
