Default setting up the first performance mods

At the moment on project teggy1 i have the whole interior dissasembled, waiting on new carpet, leather seat covers, console arm rest covers, i have the leather ebrake boot and handle, HID kit will be in soon, and once im done the interior ill be prepping the exterior for paint. However i want to plan out a few mods to the engine while the car is sitting. Im thinking an intake and exhaust upgrade is in order, i will probably get the comptech airbox as i hear its a good choice for daily drivers, the exhaust however is a bit more complicated. I need to do an oil pan gasket on the stock B18B1 engine at the moment, so i figured now is a good time to upgrade to headers and a 4-2-1 system. Im looking at the megan racing system here...

but one of my biggest issues is i have to maintain the catalytic converter if i want to keep this as a daily, ill never pass NJ emissions at the inspection without it...now i have a diagram here from walker mufflers and it appears that the exhaust is divided up nicely into sections...

what other pieces should i look at to improve performance without getting overly noisey and maintaining my ability to pass inspection?

also...on a side note, this car is a 95 integra special edition with an auto tranny...is an easy vtec swap in my future? or will it require rewiring the whole engine harness?

also, is the megan racing 4-2-1 system compatible with the vtec b series engine?

I've heard a lot of bad things with Megan headers but then I heard some good things about them too. It's more of a hope I get lucky with these headers, I bought some a while back for my DA and the gasket sucked and the headers cracked. That's why I saved up for some DC 4-1 headers.

The only real improvement you can make for performance is to ditch the slushbox and install a standard transmission.

Uncorking the exhaust won't do much, if anything, other than change the sound.

And even if you did either a vtec swap, or an lsv hybrid, you'll need to source a JDM Sir-G auto ECU to run it correctly.

they are hard to find, but sometimes you can find them. have to look around in the marketplace. maybe some of the online jdm stores, tigerjapanese, hmotors, ect.... would have them. idk for sure.

Does this guy have a Auto Tran. because I didn't read that in his post so he could just use a p28 tuned ecu. I don't think Ive seen or heard anyone doing a auto ls-vtec.

Wiring in a VTEC Swapp is very simple and katman did a really good write walking through the wiring. Being a obd1 car (although I'm not sure about the NJ inspections), you could easily run a chipped p72 or p28. I'd look for a GSR swap and do an auto to manual conversion before ordering any intake /exhaust pieces. You may gain a few HP with the basic bolt-on's but It honestly wouldnt be worth the added noise. If anything man, do a drop in K+N and a good tune-up for now.

If I was to recommend an exhaust for a lightly modded DD it would prolly be an Apexi WS, you can find them in the marketplace for around $300. If you really want a header I am selling a header like the one you have pictured cheap, its been kicking around my garage for a while and want to see it gone

any of these header systems directly bolt onto the catalytic converter assembly correct?
