Default interior gutting

ok ive got a 88 prelude Si and its not the best looking thing out there, but its a damn great running car. its got mad bondo work so im not too worried about looks at the moment, now im wondering if should tear out all of my interior panels, flooring and seats. ppl are saying it will give me a weight reduction, but i wanna know what the pros and cons of doing this is, i mean....will it make the car go that much faster? or will i be wasting my time?

You would probably save 30-50 pounds (being very optimistic), but it would be loud as hell too when you're just cruising down the interstate.

would 30-50 pounds actually be worth all that?

IMO, gutting is only worth the effort in a car you intend to compete in. Depends on your priorities I suppose. I would focus more on efficiency (intake/exhaust), and then performance engine upgrades as you can come by them.

Weight reduction, including interior stripping, a/c removal, p/s removal will net you more gains if combined with actual upgrades and tuning.

Granted if you take enough stuff off, you will have better acceleration and theoretical more top speed, but you've got to upgrade your suspension and traction to truly take full advantage of it. Don't forget that you've got to drive this thing everyday too (I'm assuming). Comforts seem small until you don't have them.

Gut it for now, untill you have money to buy upgrades.

Don't gut it, it will sound like **** on the inside and you won't lose enough weight for it to be worth it, unless you have a fast car to begin with. I won't gut my car until I've put every dollar I want into my engine and I still want to go faster.
