Default NEED HELP: B16 Redline problems

i just recently built my b16a, i have it in a 1990 crx, when i get on it the motor is redlining at 7000, i have already eliminated oil pressure and the vtec solenoid (wiring, filter screen, etc.), the only problem as far as sensors go is my coolant sensor doesnt work since i put the motor back in, if anybody has any answers please let me know, thanks guys

fix what you know is wrong.

If you are running an aftermarket ecu, there is typically a cold and hot (engine coolant) rev limiter. If you dont have a coolant sensor then the ecu will never see that the engine is warm and will limit how far you can rev.

This guy is dead on. Even the factory ECU does funky stuff if the engine isnt up to temp. Given there are a couple different temp sensors (up to 3 I believed....depending on the year)...so it might not be the problem, but I'd fix it first and go from there.

what ecu or tuning device are you running? i think it may be the coolant temp sensor as well.

the ecu that you have makes those motors fall on their face at 7800 so if youre revving to that just be happy.

hahaha! i know what it is. a 90 crx has a dx cluster and those are known to be about 1200 rpms off. your motor is running to 8k or more.

put it on a dyno and check it.

once again not to be a smartass, but i know my car, i have a auto meter tach wired directly into my msd ignition, i watched it peg at 7k, i set my shift light at 7,500 and it never blinked, therefore it most definitely is not hittin 8k
