sc300 or sc400 need help!
going to buy my sc but wats the difference ive been searching all i found was the sc300 has a 2jz ge engine and the other on sc400 has 1ufze my question is which engine is better for tuning? can u do the 2jzgette swap on both sc300 and 400? is the stock 2jz ge engine on the sc a good motor for tuning without needing to do an engine swap...sorry guys im new to the lexus department so any info is much appreciated thanks guys.....its about time i ditch the em2 sad but true
sc300 is a inline 6 2jz-ge and the sc400 is a v8 1ufze. Yes you can do a supra 2jz-gt swap on both model. Both engine are good for tuning , the 2jz can go turbo setup real nice and the 1ufze can do a super charger setup, its all on what you want to do?!
If it was me i would get a sc300 and swap a supra 2jz-gte turbo set up in.
alot of good information would be in clublexus.com

hey thanks alot for the info i was looking at clublexus.com good site and i was asking because i didnt see a lot of people tuning the 1ufze engine and not alot of 400s i saw mostly the sc300s with 2jz engines so i thought maybe the sc400 had a not so good engine compared to the 2jz because we all know supras have them
i dont think the 400 came with a manual transmission option. i've seen 5 speed 300s, but rarely. there are alot of turbo kits for the is300, which I assume can be adapted to the sc300. 2jzgte motors are wickedly expensive especially with the 6 spd trans.

the main differences from the ge and gte motor is the ge doesnt have oil squirters, there is a distributor as opposed to coil on plug, smaller injectors and the head doesnt flow as well. check out supraforums.com and look at their na section. guys are putting out insane numbers with those blocks

Your right on almost all of it. The NA heads flow better than the GTE heads. the compression ratio is higher and the intake manifold is completely different. it crosses over the engine instead of shoting forward like the GTE does. Although the block is still the same, mius the oil suirters and the provision for the oil feed for turbo. If you looking into doing the swap get a aristo motor and swap the oil pan and pickup.
BTW I have a 2jzgte gs300 so Ive done alot of research.
