Default GSR turbo blown head gasket

my friend and i just boosted his gsr and popped the head gasket on 10lbs after like an hour and a half. lol.
Is there anything we can do to lower the compression or keep it from blowing again? (excluding low comp pistons etc..) thanks guys.

I don't know about lowering compression without changing pistons or rods or crank...
I don't think you want to go that far.

You can retard the ignition timing to help save the headgasket, colder thermostat and plugs might help as well.

Might as well just tear the engine down and get forged pistons, rods, bearings, etc

Key: get it tuned!

10lbs on stock? there's your problem, drop the boost a bit till you can build it.

just get a Thicker Headgasket to drop it a few tenths and ARP's and you'll be fine. Plenty of people run bone stock GSR's on higher than 10psi.

Check your timing, seafoam it and tune it even if all you can afford is a VAFC and a wideband O2 sensor.
Timing so you don't have it overly aggressive and knock.
Seafoam so you get rid of carbon buildup that could create hot spots or increase compression.

is the car tuned? If not get it tuned or he will be replacing more than the head gasket. Use arp headstuds oem head gasket and a good tune.

PSI is all dependent on the Turbo used in the application.

Whats your fuel management? Being untuned; running too much ignition will do that to head gaskets.

Yeah it was fully tuned for the set up. just was a b16 ecu.
well, the next day we got a new head gasket and arp head studs. we went and took off the head and it turns out it was a little more than a blown gasket. #3 cylinder was completely blown out and cracked all the way down. ill post a pic of it later today. lol. its pretty cool lookin.

Bah, that's an easy fix... just slap on some JB weld and call it a day.
(that was a joke)

How much mileage on the block?

Fully tuned as in he gave the car a full tune up (new plugs & wires, filters, fluids, etc), and is running a stock P30 ECU? Or fully tuned as in he's running a real engine management system and got it tuned by a professional on a dyno? Because that picture of the cylinder tells me that he doesn't have any engine management, and never got the car tuned (though I could be wrong).

hahaha. yeah, i told him to put some jb weld on it too. hahha

lol. it did have new spark plugs etc. but i mean it was a P28 ecu tuned with hondata. just for a B16. he got it with the kit. and 550cc injectors. (a lil overkill yes.. haha)

the block had about 90,000 miles on it.

that is not tuned lol and if you think a sleeved, pistons and rods block is going to last any longer if you try to run that map again, gl with that.
